Victory one to savour for Micallef on anniversary | The Daily Advertiser

A big salute as Billysbredone headed to the line showed it was more than just your run of the mill win at Riverina Paceway on Tuesday. On the third anniversary of the death of his best mate and fellow junior driver Nic Dewar, Young reinsman Blake Micallef raised his whip to the heavens. Micallef was thrilled to taste success. “It was definitely nice to win,” Micallef said. “I try not to think about it too much but the only reason I knew was Mum told me.” Trained by his father David, Billysbredone had finished runner up in four of his last five starts.
